The education system and teacher preparation are not meeting the needs of the new knowledge economy. Strategies used in the education system established by and for the industrial age are no longer effective.
Education must become innovative and transformative to prepare students for jobs that do not yet exist so that all students can become globally competitive. Teacher education is a vital part of this innovation and transformation. Pre-service teachers will present in this session the exciting and innovative opportunities that they have participated in at Red River College in Winnipeg, Canada, and how this is driving them to prepare to innovate and transform learning, locally and globally.
