Alexis Stewart is an educator with 20 years of experience in instruction and educational programming. Alexis was born into a family of Historically Black College and University (HBCU) graduates and raised in Columbia, Maryland. Alexis now calls Atlanta home. In March of 2021, Mrs. Stewart began teaching ESOL at North Atlanta High School (NAHS) within the Atlanta Public School System. She created a Newcomer program to support immigrant and multilingual learners and connected them with mentors through a Students Mentoring Students program. In spring of 2022, she was appointed to serve as the DLI (Dual Language Immersion) Lead at NAHS. Alexis created Rinnovi Educational Consulting in 2014 and is the CEO and owner. Alexis was invited to join the International Baccalaureate Educator Network (IBEN) in 2015. Mrs. Stewart’s consultant roles include School Site Verification Visitor and Evaluator, Building Quality Curriculum Senior Reviewer, and Webinar Developer. Alexis also consults as a Middle Years Program (MYP) Workshop Leader facilitating workshops. In 2012, Alexis joined the International Baccalaureate (IB) community as a science teacher at Atlanta International School (AIS), a private K-12 institution. Mrs. Stewart also taught IB MYP Sciences and English to speakers of other languages (ESOL). Alexis was the Secondary Yearbook Advisor and an advisor to many student-led organizations. In 2015, Alexis was promoted as the Secondary School (grades 6-12) Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) Coordinator at Atlanta International School. Alexis moved to Atlanta in 2011. She taught Environmental Science and Zoology and coached Girls JV Lacrosse at Kell High School, located in Cobb County, Georgia. Alexis began teaching in Howard County, Maryland at Glenwood Middle School. She taught Life Science General and Honors courses to grade seven students from 2001-2006. Alexis continued her education and earned a Master's Degree in Life Science from the University of Maryland in 2005. In 2006, she moved to York, Pennsylvania, and began teaching middle school science at Edgar Fahs Smith Middle School for three years. She earned her English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) certificate from Juniata College in 2008. From 2009-2011, Alexis taught ESOL, ESOL Biology, and Spanish for Native Speakers at William Penn High School. Alexis attended Howard University from 1995 to 1999 where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She was President of the Biological Society in 1997. Alexis Stewart is an active member of New Horizon Baptist Church and Grove Park Neighborhood Association. Alexis loves the outdoors, yoga, rating beaches globally, and traveling anywhere that she can be immersed in and appreciate different cultures.
