Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
This workshop will focus on the importance of civic engagement; global perspectives; and leadership for students of all ages. Students of all ages need to be encouraged to learn, get involved, and be leaders at the elementary, middle, high school, and college level. Students have to be presented with leadership opportunities consistently. A balanced approach will allows students to take responsibility for their own path as developing leaders by choosing experiences based on their personal interests and needs. It is necessary that our students make connections and reflections on their leadership experiences. During the workshop, I will discuss and provide data that supports the benefits on how students participating in small support group meetings, completing self assessments and reflections, and mentor meetings challenge and support students’ learning. This workshop will demonstrate to administrators, teachers and parents how students take full advantage of the diversity of programs, services, and people offered so they will be prepared to face and address the challenges of the 21st century.
