4th grade state project

In Memphis, TN our fourth grade students (ages 9-10) study regions of the United States and individually create a project about a specific state. We would like to develop a wiki that encompasses teachers from the different states as well as some email or Skype pals for our students to correspond with about the fifty states. The wiki would guide us in activities that we can do to help us understand what it's like to live in another state. These are the topics that we cover in fourth grade: 1) Location 2) Climate 3) Physical Features 4)Unique Attributes: 5) Natural Resources 6) Economy. We would also like to blog on current issues such as the environment, recycling, language studies, etc.

  • Forth graders in the West Tisbury School would like to participate. We live on Martha's Vineyard an island off the coast of Massachusetts. We are just finishing up our Ocean Unit (we work with scientists from Wood's Hole)- after December 2, we'll be ready to go. Please keep us in the loop.

    Thanks,
    Valerie

  • We're interested (Portland, Oregon).
    • Hi Richard,

We have three 4th grade classes, 58 girls. We want this to be an
ongoing collaboration for the rest of the school year. We plan to
start with a blog between the classes on a current event or subject
pertinent to the students. Dates for topics and research sharing will be forthcoming shortly for the first blog posting. We thought that we could include research/posting activities where we share information about TN in exchange for information from Oregon.
