Full Session Description:
In the last five years, the Flat Classroom projects have linked almost 5,000 students and their teachers in massive collaborations using blogs, wikis, multimedia, social bookmarking and more. The co-founders of these projects, Julie Lindsay and Vicki Davis have distilled the process of moving into global collaboration into 7 simple steps that can apply in every situation.
Get a glimpse into the pedagogies and practices that work so that you can promote educational excellence at all grade levels and prevent burnout. Learn how to connect yourself so learning begins with you. The Flat Classroom certified teacher participants will share their stories and co-host this lively conversation about global collaboration in practice.
What happens when you merge your classroom? How do you troubleshoot? How do you prevent burnout? How do you promote teachersourcing and teacherpreneurship as part of the global collaborative classroom's pedagogy?
These questions and more will be discussed and answered by those doing it every day and underpin much of the book these co-presenters have written, Flattening, Classrooms, Engaging Minds: Mote to Global Collaboration One Step at a Time to be released in January 2012.
For example in September-December 2011, these projects have more than 500 students each on Flat Classroom Project and the Digiteen project and almost 1,000 students collaborating in the Week in the Life Elementary Flat Classroom project. See what this looks like and how you can put it into practice in your own way.
