In case you didn't see this email:
Hi All -
Can you believe we now have over 600 members in the Global Education Collaborative?!?! It's very exciting to see that we have many new members from around the globe including China, India, Australia, Singapore, Hungary, Fiji and Turkey! Thank you, everyone, for spreading the word. Please keep it up!
I'm starting to work on two items brought up in our Global Education Collaborative meeting last month. First, I'm organizing people for the National Educational Computing Conference to be held in June in San Antonio, Texas. Even if you are not attending, considering joining this group so we can brainstorm ways of sharing conference experiences with those who will not be there. This is the link to the group:http://globaleducation.ning.com/group/necc2007attendees
Also, GEC board members would like to start working on a model global awareness curriculum and I've established a few pages in this wiki for this purpose: http://globaleducationcollaborative.wikispaces.com/. We are looking for your input on:
1. Brainstorming - what should this curriculum look like
2. Characteristics of global learners - what should kids be able to do
3. Models of curriculum development - what models should we follow
4. Existing curricula - can we build on exisiting resources?
5. Model programs and schools - list any schools with exemplary programming
6. Standards - propose standards or link to standards that already exist arond global education
Next on my agenda will be to plan some activities for helping members get to know one another and to establish a database of some sort so that people can easily find projects to join.
Hope all is well with you all and Happy Mother's Day to anyone that's celebrating today!
Thanks,
Lucy Gray
