Our multiage class (6-8 year olds) is learning, sharing and celebrating the unique aspects of island communities around the world.
Through a series of creative online collaboration and communication projects students will learn about each others lives, cultures and environments. Some of the envisaged project outputs include various text forms, wikis, maps, photos, videoconferences, videos and sound recordings using a variety of free and easy web2.0 tools.
We have learning partners in Papa Westray (in the Orkney Islands), Iceland, and New Zealand.
If you live on an island, work with primary age children, please join us.

Given your project, you might be interested in this year's Digital Media and Learning Competition, which is now open (deadline October 15th). The theme this year is participatory learning, which sounds exactly like what you are going for. Participatory learning is defined broadly as using new digital media for sharing ideas or planning, designing, implementing, or just discussing ideas and goals together.
