Full Session Description (as long as you would like): The Hip Hop Re:Education Project (HHREP) is dedicated to building national and international partnerships committed to the development of peace, knowledge and mutual understanding.  Through our Travel Agency of Change we have given our most dedicated youth access to both virtual and re-world exchange opportunities—all in an effort to develop global citizens. Currently our two main Travel of Agency Change programs include the Cyber Cypher and the BronxBerlinConnection. The Cyber Cypher is partnership with CultureHub, a digital media studio that specializes in long-distance collaborative learning and art project development. This partnership has facilitated virtual meet-ups between youth NYC and youth in Manchester, U.K., New Orleans, Los Angeles and Berlin, DE. The BronxBerlinConnection is a partnership with Gangway, e.V., Berlin's largest street-work organization. The BronxBerlinConnection has developed 3 full-length records, facilitated 10 international cultural exchange trips (including a three-way city exchange with youth from Barcelona) and filmed and released dozens of music videos and mini-documentaries.  This presentation will explore the key pedagogical components of the HHREP's approach to global education.  It will review some of the major lessons learned over the past 5 years of undertaking such work.  Finally, it will present a general framework for other organization interested in starting their own youth exchange projects.
