Full Session Description:
A group of SUNY cross-cultural specialists developed the Cross Cultural Evaluation Toolkit to improve the development and assessment of international experiential learning programs. The Toolkit provides guidance to educators and administrators to create, deliver, and assess international experiential learning activities that strengthen students’ cross-cultural skills. Internationalized experiences can include study abroad programs, faculty-led international field studies, collaborative online international learning projects or other classroom-based projects.
In the presentation, we will introduce the various components of the toolkit, including pre/post experience questionnaires and an assessment rubric with eight cross-cultural skills. We will also model a sample introductory level activity that can be used in the classroom to develop a cross-cultural worldview, an understanding of how culture contributes to one's view of the world. We will conclude the presentation with a discussion on assessment of cross-cultural skills.
