Authentic Assessments for Global Awareness
This session will review the following essential questions:
- What is an authentic assessment?
- What are examples of authentic assessments in various content areas?
- How can authentic assessments, combined with social media and nonfiction texts, cultivate a sense of global awareness and responsibility in students?
The session will begin with a Google Slide presentation outlining the specifics of authentic assessment and its benefits. We will also discuss how to incorporate social media and nonfiction texts in an effort to marry authentic assessment with global awareness.
Small group work will follow where educators of similar content areas can brainstorm and contribute ideas for authentic assessment in their classrooms.
