Be the Change Network is a newly forming community of educators who will use network resources and connections with other schools & students as an instructional strategy to engage their students more deeply in the key issues of our times. This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their work, be that poetry for justice, video documentaries of local environmental challenges and successes, or crises and solutions in human health.
Each participating teacher/student class or group will have the freedom to pursue their own interests and action projects, with the benefit of being able to connect with other around what they choose to do.
Be The Change Network already has admitted sixteen educators representing the USA, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Turkey, England, Ireland and Canada. We expect from 40-60 grades 4-12 teachers and between 800-1200 students will participate in this network during the 2010-2011 school year.
This initiative is sponsored by The Heritage Institute which is a progressive program of continuing education for teachers with a mission to "educate for humanity & the world we want." Applications are now open to join this network for the 2010-2011 school year. Participants will be accepted on a first-come basis, and the network will be open to another 40 teachers as of September 1, 2010.
