Become a Global Family by Hosting an AFS Intercultural Programs High School Student!
Welcome an AFS Exchange Student from one of 90 countries. Families are accepted year-round.
Local AFS Volunteers will support you and your hosted student throughout your experience to help you both receive the most from your time together. You provide a bed and meals for your student, but most importantly, you should be eager and excited to share your life and activities while providing the same kind of care, support, and comfort as you would to your own child or family members. AFS welcomes all kinds of families.
Students study in high schools and are eager to experience what it's like to live in America. Sharing daily life with a teenager from another country and culture is a rich and rewarding experience and is a wonderful way for you and your family to build a more just and peaceful world.

Students like these will be arriving this fall:
Chinucha, or “Kith”, is from Thailand. He is the oldest of twins! His oldest sister participated in an AFS program in 2010 which motivated him to apply. He dreams of one day using his drawing skills to become a cartoonist, animator, or architect.
Keisuke from Japan is described by his piano teacher as a "profoundly sensitive" person. Keisuke not only has a passion for the arts, but he is athletic as well. Last year, he was the captain of his school's soccer club. He still plays on the team and enjoys spending time on the field with his teammates.
Mohammad from Indonesia goes by his middle name, Radhiyan. He loves to listen to music, and plays the drums and the bass guitar. He is very creative, and loves to draw and write stories, essays, and even poetry. Already an amateur film maker, Radhiyan started a cinematography club at school!
Ekber is a polite and ambitious teen from Turkey. He enjoys traveling, baking, reading, and listening to music. A basketball fan, his favorite team is the Los Angeles Lakers. In the future, Ekber hopes to study political science and international relations.
Marco from Italy is an active, friendly, and smart young man. He spends time with his friends swimming, playing water polo, or watching movies. Marco's parents praise his adaptability, maturity, and communication skills, and point out how well he did when he spent several weeks on exchange programs in Ireland and Sweden.
Gilles is from Belgium. He’s an honor student whose favorite subject is Economics. His favorite pastime is tennis – he offers lessons to young beginners in his community. He also enjoys jogging and going to the cinema.
Meet August from Sweden. His major interests include sailing, hiking, listening to music. He also likes playing computers, video games, and swimming. He hikes and sails mostly in the summer or when the weather allows with his family.
Meet Maria from Brazil! The main goal for Maria in traveling to the US for this study abroad program is to become a better and better-rounded person. For years she did ballet and swimming, but gave them up for her studies.
