Becoming a Tech Coach?

I’m wondering from my tech and teacher friends out there. What path did you take to become tech coach, staff developer, and/or pd teacher, etc. I’m interested to know what types of coursework, experiences and the like may have been helpful to you. Cross Posted on Teach2Connect Cheers! Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,
I am the Educational Technology Coordinator for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis I am "the bridge" between the IT Department and the teaching staff. I am responsible for all training, integration support, and any other "user" based needs. I took a path from English teacher - to School Media Specialist - to technology integration. I hold a traditional BS in English Education and a Master in Library Science. The MLS was a natutal fit for technology integration as it focuses on access, retrieval and evaluation of information! Our future focuses on making technology part of the fabric of our teaching and learning instead of an overlay. Now that our school's infrastructure is solid we can look to that future. I am very excited to be a part of it.
  • Hello, I'm Tim and I work as a Technology Integration Specialist (Tech Coach) at Korea International School. When I arrived at KIS, Clay Burell was the tech coach in the high school. Previously I was at Saipan International School and was doing many tech infused projects and lessons with my students there, so Clay and I would often bounce ideas off each other. The administration had plans to go 1:1 in the middle school, but needed a tech coach, so they approached me. I guess you could say I sort of fell into my position. For two years I've been the tech coach and Dean of Students in the middle school, but I'm going to move back into the classroom next year and continue my role as a tech coach half-time.
