Best Practices & Tips for Teaching Gen XYZ of All Abilities

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Risa Blair and Tisha Radcliffe each bring over 14 years of experience as facilitators, practitioners of instructional design and development specific to online learning to the session. They are passionate about online learning and breaking down barriers to create greater learner engagement through universal design (UDL) and meeting ADA/508 compliance. The session will highlight essential elements to incorporate into teaching and learning practices to ensure success for Gen XYZ learners of all abilities.

Do you often wonder what the learners across the generations are thinking and how to reach them? We have too! Together, let’s consider what learners across generations may need along with the learning challenges they may face. You might be surprised to find that they all may need the same thing or something slightly different. When it comes to providing content, learning tools, and instruction, one must consider the many learning challenges for users from disparate generations and the diversity of accommodations necessary to support learning. This session is likely to have you percolating on thoughts around addressing what Gen XYZ and others need and make you keen on offering more ways to accommodate learners.

The session will cover different perspectives along with tips and tricks (as time allows) necessary for incorporating best practices to effectively reach learners of each generation and provide appropriate accommodations. eLearning presents many challenges, but keeping some key instructional methods in mind will benefit both the learners and the instructor or facilitator. You’ll likely leave the session pondering if your course content or instructional method is accessible and accommodating enough to reach through the generations of learners you encounter. You’ll gain access to resources to support accessibility compliance post-presentation.
