Hello all,
I'm a web development professional and part-time adjunct professor (of same) who is pursuing a masters in educational technology at Fairfield University in CT, USA. I've joined this ning as a part of a "building global communities w/tech" course I'm taking; I look forward to seeing what this particular group is all about, it seems like a good fit given my experience.
For a project in my class, I want to help the project a friend of mine has started called "Positive Planet" [link]. This is a program meant to create a sister-school relationship between schools in Queens, NY and rural Uganda. Ironically, though we're both web guys, my friend (Mick Greene) has started Positive Planet on a shoestring, and his Internet presence is mainly a brochure-oriented web site (no interactivity, etc.).
I'm asking anyone in this community for any ideas just to get me going on how tech could be used to enhance this kind of project. Relatedly, any advice in terms of writing a grant proposal to help fund this end would be helpful, be it resources on how to craft the proposal itself, or thoughts on what organizations could be solicited for any kind of grant money.
Thanks again everyone for your time; I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
