Full Session Description (as long as you would like): In this session, we will build a network of teachers committed to helping each other and their students connect to build a 'Collaborative' of writers. Blogging is a powerful way for students to learn to think and write well. Because blogging is naturally an invitation to discussion, students learn to write with their audience in mind, and anticipate comments - both in agreement and in opposition. Blogging is also a way to engage with other people around the world who have cultures, perspectives, and positions that are perhaps very different than our own. We will preview a few excellent student blogs before discussing/workshopping strategies to improve our own blogs and connect them for continued improvement. A goal of this session is to create a network of blogging students that will comment back-and-forth to create a global discussion among thoughtful writers.
