Full Session Description (as long as you would like): Adults seeking their high school equivalency diploma often struggle understanding the preparation required to be successful. Many fall prey to predatory diploma mills offering a diploma for a cost. Libraries are often struggling with the various needs of learners and the variety of testing options. Join this interactive session to discover the following:
- How do we keep patrons from becoming victim to predatory diploma mills?
- What are the skills lower literacy adults need to develop in order to be competitive in the global job market?
- How do you create a meaningful learning space at your library for adults seeking their HSE?
By understanding the complexity of the High School Equivalency Diplomas, libraries will strenghten their community role by utilizing existing resources and expanding community partnerships in order to assist adults build academic skills and global competencies.
