Greetings!

We'd like to take a moment to introduce ourselves to this amazing global community!
My daughter, Kasha is a 21 year old filmmaker & recognized global youth leader. She founded The Global Sunrise Project which is a youth led media hub for social good. The purpose of the organization's mission is to create positive media which inspires & empowers purposeful youth civic engagement as global citizens.

At 16, Kasha convinced me to let her take a year off school so she could travel the world for six months to film a documentary, The Sunrise Storyteller, about what it means to be a global citizen. The film, which she crowd-source funded, features inspirational & triumphant human stories of hope & resilience to shed light on how to make the world a better place. Through the power of her film, workshops and discussions, she is empowering students/youth to find their purpose & passion and inspire them to take action on the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations.

As the recipient of the Ontario Lieutenant Governor’s Community Service Award, with over 4000 hours of service, Kasha is a reliable source for helping other youth navigate their service learning. As a social entrepreneur she also has the unique insight on how to harness entrepreneurial skills to power social good.  In addition, she is the recipient of the 2019 Diana Award, from the Diana Foundation (Princess of Wales) for her commitment to humanitarian & social action.

Now, 21 years old Kasha Sequoia Slavner is a 9x UN Youth Delegate, Kim Phuc Youth Peace Award recipient & multi-award-winning documentary filmmaker who comes to the profession as a seasoned photographer, entrepreneur, and social justice advocate for over a decade. The Sunrise Storyteller is her first feature-length documentary, which she directed, filmed, scripted and edited. Since it’s World Premiere at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in 2017, it has screened at 60+ festivals and won 28 awards, including the Ron Kovic Peace Prize and the Eva Haller Women Transforming Media Award. Kasha also was recently selected to present in the United Nations International Day of Peace Students' Observance in New York this past September.

The Global Sunrise Project is now offering screenings of the documentary, workshops & her talk to middle, high school & university students.

We’d like to interest your school in an assembly or class screening of her 64 minute film followed by a 10-15 minute discussion/ Q&A with Kasha, herself. In addition, Kasha has developed a 60 and 90 minute workshop A GenZ’s Guide to Creating Social Change, which can be booked in addition or separately from the screening.
