Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Challenge Based Learning is a solution to education. It is a framework for teachers to become collaborators with their students. Students are the driving force, the empowered ones to create a solution to make a difference in their community. During this session participants will be introduced to the framework, beginning with the Big Idea and following all the way through the process of creating viable solutions. You will hear from educators who have implemented Challenge Based Learning with their students, their reflections on the process and the transformations that took place.
Challenge Based learning is for all grade levels. Teachers guide the process and help the students ask the right questions. This action can be carried out as an entire class project or as small group projects. Students will decide on how to approach the project as well what Essential Question they are trying to answer. They will implement their possible solution and analyze the results. Challenge Based Learning puts 21st century skills in the forefront of the process.
