Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

Global education is about integrating resources into what you are already are doing.  I often hear from teachers that the hardest part of global education is showing students how to make a difference in the world. This session will show you powerful literature resources that will empower and inspire your students to make a difference in the world.  Learn about literature that shows action solving real-world problems that tie into the United Nations Global Goals. I will share over 15 titles that will transform your classrooms.  For example, I read One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia by Miranda Paul and students in third and fourth grade collected plastic bottles to up cycle into decorations.  We then connected with schools around the world and shared other plastic recycling ideas.  The literature inspires awareness and discussions that will impact all curriculum areas.

    Hi Tina,

It looks like you edited your proposal, but I didn't receive notification that you wanted me to review this again. I'm going through proposals again, and I just wanted to add a bit more feedback. It's essential that proposals are detailed and outline the benefits for participants. This will encourage participants to attend your session.

Literature itself will not transform a classroom and lead to action. Can you elaborate on how literature can inspire kids to make a difference in the world and cite some specific examples? Do students complete projects related to taking action?

If you are planning on editing your proposal and submitting it for review again, please do this by the end of business on Monday, November 6th. If you would like me to review your proposal again, please email me as soon as you've completed your edits at lucy@globaledevents.com

    Thanks!

    Tina,

What do you mean by a "completed addition"? Can you elaborate further with some examples or activities?

    Thanks,

    Lucy Gray
