Short Session Description (one line):   Cultural and academic  exchange carried out by undergraduate students.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

Last  term the spanish-speaking undergraduate students from my english classes carried out a cultural exchange with French undegraduate  students from  a  similar engineering  school in Bordeaux, France.

The objective was to help our students learn about another culture firsthand and also make interesting friends  doing   debates for a couple of months  as an out-of-class activity.

The students voluntarily  signed up for a page in a site called grouply.com  under the name of chileanfrench students for Chilean students and Chile France exchange for French students  where they met up and were grouped  by the teachers, according to their level of English for doing the tasks given.

Every week we posted a topic introduced by a video, or a picture. and discussion questions to  end up with a conclusion giving an opinion about the topic.

The students agreed on a time to meet and discussed the topic through skype or mail or any of the technologies available for them.

For most of them, this was the first time they talked to someone in English.

Please review the directions in the call for proposals .  Copy and paste the required template, open your proposal, select the Options button in the upper right hand corner, and then select Edit Discussion. Paste your template into the body of the post, add a tag ( 2011Teacher, 2011Student, 2011Curricular, 2011Policy) in the tag field, and then press save. Your help is greatly appreciated!
