Hi,

My name is Rob Sbaglia and I am the ICT coordinator at Castlemaine North Primary School, (Victoria, Australia), a school of 163 students. We have a strong focus on ICT, with all our Grade 5 and 6 students having their own netbooks, as well as desktop and netbook access throughout the rest of the school.

In term three, we are conducting an inquiry around the concept of sustainability. The inquiry will commence on July 12th and run for ten weeks. Students will be investigating how income affects quality of life; how Australia’s quality of life differs from that of other countries; how much we use resources and how this impacts others; and what action we can take to reduce this impact.

We are looking for schools to collaborate with on this project. We would like our students to be able to compare how much they travel, the nature and amount of food they consume, the size and nature of housing they live in, and the amount of goods and services they consume, with students from around Australia and around the world.

We would be looking at doing this through a combination of videoconferencing and blogging (we will provide further information to interested schools).

Your involvement might merely be a five minute Skype call, or something more substantial.

If you would like to be involved with us on this project, please let me know via email (sbaglia.robert.r@edumail.vic.gov.au) or reply to this post.

Many thanks,

Rob Sbaglia.
