Dear GEC Community Members -
Steve Hargadon and I are tremendously pleased with the participation for Global Collaboration Day on September 17th. Approximately 325 schools and organizations and 36 outreach partners from 51 different countries participated in 149 collaborative online events. Many projects were categorized as requiring asynchronous participation, so you may find a few are still running. Save September 15, 2016, as the official date for our next GCD!
We now turn our attention to our annual online conference which will take place in Blackboard Collaborate on November 16-19. Proposals are now being accepted through November 1. We hope that you will consider submitting a proposal soon so that you receive your first choice of presentation times on our conference schedule. Also, we have announced our first five keynotes which include 2 sets of teachers, a technology director from one of the most innovative international schools in the world, and the first American journalist to set up a news bureau in North Korea. Stay tuned for more announcements as we confirm speakers.
Here are some important links to follow regarding the conference:
- Make sure you understand the mission of our community and conference. This is not a general education conference.
- Read the call for proposals and follow directions carefully.
- Sign up to moderate conference sessions as a volunteer. We will train you!
- Sign up to serve on our advisory board.
- Non-profits can also support the conference by serving as outreach partners.
- For-profits are encouraged to contact Steve Hargadon about sponsorship opportunities at steve@hargadon.com.
Again, thanks to everyone who joined in Global Collaboration Day! We love and appreciate your enthusiasm and dedication to making this world a better place and to educating young people.
Sincerely,
Lucy Gray & Steve Hargadon
Conference Co-Chairs
