Short Session Description:

Concept Based Curriculum: developing the connected, global learner

Full Session Description:

Visualize a learner-centered classroom, rich with materials and technology. Learners are provided with diverse learning opportunities, working in collaborative groups as well as individually, solving problems, carrying on inquiry around questions of interest, and creatively producing products and ideas. Such is a classroom environment designed within a Concept Based Curriculum and Instruction framework. Using engaging projects with global connections, educators can foster collaboration as well as continual learning about other cultures and perspectives. Teacher guides facilitate structured inquiry, providing deeper understandings for learners to discover, encouraging them to think synergistically between the factual and conceptual levels of knowledge and understanding. This introductory session illustrates the scope of  Concept Based Curriculum and Instruction and how CBCI promotes global awareness, fosters global competency and inspires action towards solving real-world problems. In practical terms CBCI provides a framework that supports collaboration and the building of global connections among global educators and learners.

Please note: Concept-based curriculum and instruction is not an instructional program, it cultivates quality curriculum design and pedagogy.
