A walk through some iEARN global education projects along with an insight into how Mathletics through live games has enabled kids at the SOS Children Village Peshawar to connect globally with kids from around the globe. A look into how it has helped enhance various skills by connecting globally.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

The session will cover an overview of the technology based initiative “Technology for a cause – Empowering Kids Enhancing Skills” voluntarily taken at the SOS Children Village Peshawar (Pakistan) to enhance various skills of kids including numeracy, IT, reading, literacy etc. The initiative is in line with UN SDG 4 related to quality education for every child. Kid where ever deserve the same quality education. The presentation will take participants through the five iEARN projects, discuss links with SDGs, and highlight work done by kids and how has it helped become globally citizens. These projects are ongoing and we are still working on these.

One of the interesting resources explored during the ICT initiative at SOS has been Mathletics. Mathletics has proved to be very powerful tool and has actually enabled kids from all around the globe to participate in live math competitions with fellow kids.

Furthermore, the presentation will all share some of the useful links and resources that could help fellow colleagues and educators connect globally during the GE projects, a look into questions that could help evaluate the effectiveness of the resource. In the end some questions to consider before joining global education projects.

The presentation will include a demo of bubbl.us and how it can let us effectively collaborate during global education projects.

The presentation will share my personal experience of working with global education projects and how it has impacted kids at SOS Children’s Village and why I think it was a unique experience.
