Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Students in our international schools can sometimes live within a bubble. In an effort to help them connect more with their community and learn about the place in which they live, we developed the 8th grade oral history project as an interdisciplinary and service learning unit. Students develop research, questioning, and interviewing skills while building a better awareness of their own place within the world. The project is shared publicly in an effort to create an arena for conversation and to provide a resource to the public. We are currently in the third year of the project and continue to grow and learn from the process each year.
In this session we’ll discuss the process of creating your own project, some of the lessons we’ve learned along the way and how to get your student’s work to a wider audience.
