I'm interested in meeting with other artists or art educators to discuss awareness & appreciation for the art of different cultures. Since I am Canadian, I have an appreciation for the art that has been produced in my country. I may not know every artist, but since I have lived here my whole life, I may be able to understand aspects of art history here that people from other countries might not.
When I share my love of exploring the art of other cultures & countries, I wish I could connect my students with someone who could put the art into context. How is the art seen in its own country? How can it be appreciated in a new way? What symbols, styles and materials should be understood by someone who isn't born in that country?
