Short Session Description:
With months to go before the new global EFA Framework has to come into effect, the session looks at the processes, goals and targets for the Post 2015 education framework.
Full Session Description:
Less than a year remains for the EFA and MDG targets. The world's current global education goals expire in 2015 as both the Dakar Framework for Education For All and the Millennium Development Goals both come to an end to be replaced by new targets and different architecture. Replacements for these are under negotiation. The present session looks at what is at stake in the process for the global education movement, analyzes the concrete proposals for the replacement frameworks emerging from both processes and looks at the spaces open and civil society processes underway worldwide to influence them in favour of a more holistic view of education.
The session offers an international perspective on the issue since it draws on the work of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) which is a civil society movement working to end the global education crisis with a presence in almost 100 countries. Our mission is to make sure that states act now to deliver the right of everyone to a free, quality public education.
