eTextbooks in Global Education: A Common Standard?
Tuition increase in higher education leads to a decrease in college graduates. According to research, students in the United States with access to free eTexbooks are more likely to stay in school and graduate. As a result, faculty in the United States are just beginning to question traditional educational formats and content delivery.
Two faculty members from St. Cloud State University will facilitate a discussion about the experience and opinions of faculty and librarians from around the world in regard to their creation, adoption, and standardization of OER for global education. The facilitators will also survey session participants on their perceptions and usage of eTextbooks. The goal of the discussion is to contemplate tactics in the successful application of textbooks, eTexbooks in particular, across borders and cultural milieus.
