GYLI is excited to announce a new program for teachers and educators in the Dominican Republic.  Based on the success of our Global Education Conference in Costa Rica (www.gyli.org/conference), we know this program will inspire, inform and empower teachers and educators in your community. 
Experience the Birthplace of the Americas 
 
SEE: the first hospital, first houses, first bank, the first grid city in the Americas that all date back to the 1500’s. 

HEAR: from Dominicans who will guide us through the colonial city in Spanish, French and English. 

WORK WITH: Haitian students who have survived the 2010 Haitian Earthquake.

SAIL: aboard the Amistad a replica of the vessel involved in the 1839 Amistad Incident, and an ambassador remembrance and confrontation of the legacy of slavery. Understand the historic crossroads of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

Program dates:
December 26, 2011-January 2, 2012 (400 Deposit Due, November 1, 2011
March 20-28, 2012  (400 Deposit Due, January 15, 2012)

$2900 USD
