Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum):

There is a clear need for pedagogical approaches that promote global communication and collaboration. The author has an extensive history of experimentation with techniques for achieving these outcomes, working through cross-national collaborations and integrated online programming. This presentation discusses the outcomes of a classroom experience using a program designed to develop 21st century skills through project learning around economics instruction for K-12 learners. The program is Bizworld, a project of a foundation by the same name. This presentation examines the use of Bizworld in a college classroom for preparing teacher candidates, evaluating the experience according to its success in achieving the goals of teaching economics, communication and collaborative skills. The pilot effort now creates a basis for a next step, using Bizworld as the basis for an international project collaboration between participating college classrooms. The beauty of this project is that teacher candidates sharing this experience can subsequently employ Bizworld or other programs in their own future K-12 classrooms with global partners. Such collaborations through this program are useful in a globalized world where issues of enterprise and economics are central both to conventional ideas of development and alternative views of sustainable development. The skills in communication and collaboration as well as the ability to integrate technology and the awareness of the wonderful potential for global collaborative learning are all addressed.

  • Hi Ludmilla,

To enable your session to be searchable can you choose and add from the tags below those that are applicable. Then go up to options>edit your tags and add them in before your existing tags. If you have any questions, please ask. These are the tags to choose from:-

2012Teachers 2012Students 2012Curricular 2012Policy 2012Gaming or go back and check the instructions page again for detail on each of the tags.

    • Thank you Anne!

      Ludmilla

      • Well done Ludmilla. The conference has strands and those 2012Student and 2012curricular are searchable for the conference. As such you have them in there which is great. Howevr, I would take out the other 2012 additions, as these will be searchable over the years. Does that make sense? However, you can leave them as they are.

        • It does make sense, Anne, agree.

          Thank you for your guidance.

    Ludmila,

This looks like a very interesting presentation and it has great potential. I'm wondering, however, if you can tie the ideas of financial and entrepreneurial literacies to our conference mission a bit more. We need to understand how your proposal involves global collaboration and communication.

    Thanks,

    Lucy Gray
