Situated within the context of curriculum design, this presentation advocates an innovative interdisciplinary project based curriculum revolving around Asian Studies as a means to explore Asia, Asian Culture, People, Culture and Religion among college students while developing global competencies and 21st Century skills.

This presentation outlines the role of innovative interdisciplinary collaborations among the Asian Studies faculty in various disciplines; offers creative strategies and possibilities for integrating new technologies and 21st century skills into Asian Studies curriculum;

•demonstrate Project Based Learning and experiential classroom activities;
•and showcases undergraduate students’ interdisciplinary multimedia projects and digital stories.

We will explore wide range of meanings undergraduate students associated with

•experiential and exploratory learning activities;
•impact of new technologies in the curriculum;
•the ways in which participants integrated interdisciplinary topics into their multimedia projects;
•and how they gained alternative points of view on Asian Studies and
•renewed interest and commitment to global stories and issues.

The goals of the course was to: 1) develop an interdisciplinary course focusing on Asia; 2) promote global education, global literacy, collaboration fluency and 21st century skills among college students; 3) explore the use of new technologies in developing global media literacy skills in undergraduate curriculum; and 4) collaborate with faculty, librarians and international colleagues on assessment strategies, rubrics and integration of global media literacies and social media technologies into students' multilingual multicultural multimedia projects.

This presentation will discusses the role of developing innovative interdisciplinary introduction to Asian Studies course and integrating global literacies and new technologies as a means of further developing the 21st century skills among undergraduate students.

Conference participants will be able to:
·      argue the challenges and advantages of integrating new media and technologies into the Asian Studies course,
·      examine the process of preparing project based learning activities for an interdisciplinary teaching and learning,
·      explore lesson plans, assessment tools, curriculum guides and links to online resources and students' projects.
