Short Session Description (one line):
Giving children a voice worldwide by linking formal education with the power of civil society media
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Children do not only have the right for education, but also the right for child-friendly, participative, non-commercial media - worldwide. Moreover, they have the right for free expression and involvement in discussion and decision making from local to global level.
But these rights are denied in many contries; and in the countries that offer opportunities, many educators are not really aware of them. As a result, a lot of great media content created by kids does not reach as many peers, families, decision makers as they would deserve. And kids with their demands, ideas, experiences, hopes and fears do not reach the full level of awareness to be respected in the public sphere.
This is where our Radijojo World Children's Media Network comes in: We would like to share our experience in more than 100 countries (from Afghanistan to Malawi, from USA to Russia, from Boliva to Germany, from Greenland to Australia) both in formal education and civil society media with you.
Every school, orphanage, kids media club, youth or culture centre worldwide is invited to join us.
All our content is free use for all educative, non-commercial use.
For this innovative work, we have received numerous distinctions by UNICEF, UNESCO, World Summit Youth Award, Communication for Sustainable Social Change Award, UN Alliance of Civilizations, EU, German Federal Government, Institute for the Rights of the Chield and others.
We would like to show you how we all can give media based education projects in every K-12 school a fascinating boost:
* How to get your school podcast on-air in your local community radio station
* How to share and exchange songs, poems, interviews that your students have created with peers around the world within our global, non-commercial, grassroots kids media environment
* How to share your students made educative content with kids media groups in community media stations worldwide
* How to combine media based global learning with social impact - on local, national or global level.
*** Plus: We would like to take the opportunity of the Global Education Conference to invite you to use our common power to advocate for better child-friendly, participative media worldwide - as demanded and recommended by UNICEF, UNESCO, UN Alliance of Civilizations, EU parliament, World Association of Community Radios (AMARC) and countless experts in the field of ICT for Development and Education worldwide since many many years. It is time to act, since otherwise all our educative efforts within school are in vain, if mass media do not meet the educational needs of our students and children worldwide.
We are looking forward to working together with you. Giving children a voice - worldwide.

Hi Thomas, To enable your session to be searchable can you choose from the tags below those that are applicable to your session? Then go up to options>edit your tags and add them in before your existing tags. If you have any questions, please ask. These are the tags to choose from:-
2012Teachers 2012Students 2012Curricular 2012Policy 2012Gaming or go back and check the instructions page again for detail on each of the tags
Can you have a look on my tags now: was that what you suggested?
Someone asked me for the exact date of the session: Who is scheduling the sessions, where do I get the session date from?
Hi Thomas, you have added the tag 2012Teachers correctly. However the ning sees a space between tags as being a new tag, so if you look at your other tags can you find which words should go together and add an underscore or underline between the words eg Children's_radio or children's_podcast. Hope this makes sense to you.
As to scheduling your sesions, you need to find the day and time that suits you by going to http://globaledcon12.youcanbook.me and follow the prompts. If you look at the top left hand corner of your page, click on the inbox and your acceptance message from Lucy should be in there.
Book your sessions as soon as you can as the most popular times are filling up quickly. There can be 3 sessions on at the one time. Also make sure you are a member of the Presenters Group.
As it gets closer to the time, the program with all the sessions listed will be publicised on this site and links given to the rooms so that people can work out which sessions they would like to attend. Please ask any questions if any of this is not clear.
