Short Session Description (one line):
Global citizens are, by the actions in their lives and local and global context, true leaders.  This TED-talk style session (20 minutes) will share some thoughts about the cornerstones of a model of global leadership.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
This session will present a conceptual model of global leadership that incorporates many traditional notions of global citizenship, but emphasizes the kind of individual and transformational leadership highlighted by Seth Godin in his book Tribes.  The model uses international schools in particular as a context, but in effect could be applied to any situation.  The model attempts to redefine global competence through the very intentional lens of leadership, with the pillars of service, multi-lingualism, inter-cultural agility, ethics and entrepreneurship as the cornerstone of the concept.  The brief discussion will use examples from several international schools and associated projects, and will attempt to articulate some challenges that schools should take on in the 21st century.
