The pursuit of the question, the response to the problem—these are the foundations of the pure and applied sciences. Over ten years ago, this was our question:  “How can high school science better emulate global collaboration and tie local contexts to global challenges?” This session shares curricular design approaches, authentic science texts appropriate for HS students, our international arts & design competition, and designs for global student peer review. Participants receive a list of free resources to enhance global competencies in the science classroom! This two-year laboratory-driven program integrates Biology I, Chemistry I, and Physical Science/Physics coursework whilst incorporating mathematics, engineering, arts/design, and technology. We also considered curricular realities in secondary schools, and how to prepare more students to enter IB/DP, AP, Cambridge, independent research, and other demanding upper-level courses with more confidence and less anxiety. Materials from our 2013 update will be shared, including examples of recent international STEM collaborations in the pursuit of pressing global questions. This program is ready for your adaptations—come join our inquiry!
