Full Session Description (as long as you would like): Professor Julie Chen of the Chinese Culture University and Professor David Stoloff of Eastern Connecticut State University connected via ePals, a global collaborative for educators. Having a common interest to introduce their undergraduate students to the similarities and distinctiveness of learning at a university in diverse nations using information and communication technologies, Professors Chen and Stoloff formed six groups of 10 students - 5 from each of their universities - and encouraged them to connect using email, FaceBook, and other social media and to develop Powerpoint presentations and videos illustrating their lives as undergraduate students, active members of their culture, and as world citizens. The presenters will discuss findings for these global connections - insights from the students on cultural diversity, their uses of lessons learned from each other in class discussions, and unanticipated challenges and benefits. We will also welcome other university faculty members to integrate global collaborations within their curriculum.
