This session gives voices to emerging perspectives of global education and internationalization through the lenses of international student research. Currently, there are five million mobile students who are studying outside of their country of birth who bring a wide range of socio-cultural perspectives and practical ideas to the host countries which increase diversity and institutional and national revenue. We analyzed 139 graduate dissertations and theses related to the issues and challenges of international students in 2016 to explore global education discourses related to international student experiences and their contributions. We are looking to answer questions such as
What are the key challenges and obstacles encountered by international students?
Is the presence of international students contributing to global awareness of local students?
How is the host community engaging with their international guests?
