Short Session Description (one line): This session will explore the uses of blogging, email, electronic portfolios, Skype, and other tools to enrich international and cross-cultural educational courses.
Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum): This session will explore the uses of tools for international connections and global learning to enrich international and cross-cultural educational courses. The presenter will discuss experiences in connecting students and faculty members in these undergraduate courses via blogging, the posting of PowerPoint impressions of the cultures of others for cross-cultural discussions and the dispelling of misunderstanding, and skyping to converse on commonalities and differences across nations. Examples of how undergraduates have chronicled their learning experiences during global field experiences in Jamaica and Nepal through the development of electronic portfolios will also be illustrated. The session will include ample time to share best practices and to begin to develop potential ongoing online connections to enhance curriculum in other college courses.
