Short Session Description (one line): In this session participants will learn about #GlobalSpeedChat, a new monthly digital-activity-based curriculum for students of all levels to complete worldwide--giving students an opportunity to make connections to other people, places, and cultures around the globe while taking part in engaging hands-on activities together.
Full Session Description (as long as you would like): Welcome to #GlobalSpeedChat! Created by two teachers, #GlobalSpeedChat is a curriculum that includes quick, easy (ready-to-go), digital activities that teachers, school leaders, and club organizers can do with their students to build an awareness of others in our world. We believe that the best way for kids to really get to know each other is to give them opportunities to collaborate--do something together. Through this, students begin to understand others in a very natural and authentic way.
"Our hope is to build a better future by breaking down barriers and giving students an arena in which to see commonalities with others globally, while valuing our many differences. So, our plan is simple--create together, share, and check back often to see what others are posting." --Kim & Jen
In this session, participants will learn about #GlobalSpeedChat, and the monthly activities planned between November 2016-June 2017. In addition, participants will be given ideas and resources to extend the monthly #GlobalSpeedChat activities in their own classrooms to further the interactions that students have with participating classrooms worldwide. After learning about #GlobalSpeedChat, the moderators (Kim Preshoff & Jen Hesseltine) will open up the session for Q & A, and suggested activities.
