Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

Library Media Specialists are the perfect architects to build bridges through collaborative projects, and to teach their peers to do likewise. Many new and exciting online collaborative communities allow librarians to collaborate with faculty and students from different disciplines, from neighboring districts, or even across the globe.  By using these tools and working with teachers to design a variety of engaging lessons, activities, and projects, librarians and teachers become leaders in the field of teaching students how to participate and learn within a larger digital community.

In this session, participants will be introduced to and explore how online tools such as ePals, Skype, Twitter, and Edmodo were used to connect students in Western Pennsylvania with other schools in PA as well as Medellin, Colombia, and Granada, Spain. All information will be presented and shared via my library’s Google Site for participants to review, access, and use at any time.  Participants will begin designing their own collaborative project, and create a support network to assist each other with future projects.
