Short Session Description (one line):
Harmonizing multiple global alliances in Afghanistan from 2005-2009
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
This case study is a reflection of my experiential knowledge, from 2005-2009, as Chief of Party of the Afghan eQuality Alliances Project, implemented by Washington State University, and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as a global development alliance. I have identified leadership concepts that led to the success of this activity within the socio-economic context of a single but complex country, Afghanistan. I have examined the multiple shades of leadership in the Afghan eQuality Alliances Project, the shared purpose, the alliance dynamics of collaboration and competition, and the challenges for global teams posed by functions of leadership, culture, and Islam on one hand and the use of technology on the other hand. As part of the session, I will ask an Afghan colleague to reflect on (1) his experience with global education that started with the Afghan eQuality Alliances and (2) his experience with global education as an Afghan educator.
