Hi, does anyone have any ideas (or materials) for a high school course in global leadership? The goal of the course is to prepare students to take leadership roles in a global environment.

I totally agree with Andrea Peacock, we must to reinvent ourselves, that´s the first answer. All teachers we must do. Motivate is the most powerful tool since ever and today is more important though because we are navigating in a big ocean with millions of different kind of things and more quickly than before all change and something weird in our chest happen. Future is uncertain, always was, but now is so difficult to handle it. We are those steersmen in the middle of the ocean, and we can do it. We need each other, all of us have something to learn each other as always was.

Hi! Before I became a High School Social Science teacher I managed high rises and power shopping centers for the Word Bank. My students are always interested in how to become a leader in the workplace. I tell them they must learn technology, be culturally aware, have the ability to adapt and learn quickly, have at least three career options, and know at least two languages if not more! It's about surviving the most rapid fire diverse economies in history. Flexibility and education are the answers. We are preparing our students to embrace change. It's not about simply preparing students for college anymore. Vocational focus is a must as well in this economy. I view traditional colleges as providing a lack of relevant education. Online college education is simply the future (even high schools online). This new generation will have to learn to adapt, rebuild, and change our current economy. They are going to truly be challenged -- beyond challenged. So, in short, we need thinkers, innovators, and designers. It's good to have students connect with companies through actual hands-on experience or connect a class or group using Skype. The more we can encourage them to explore their possibilities the more they will be prepared to face the realities of the new global economy.
I am 46 years old and have had to reinvent myself. This is something that many people are doing right now. Educators must stay relevant and current on all social, political, cultural and environmental issues regardless of their specific subject.

What you say is very true. I feel the pace of change is so fast now that one of the most critical skills is the ability to adapt and change. And yet we don't really teach it, our curriculum is still very static.
I guess first of all if you can point to any tools or materials that have helped you with your own transitions, that would be helpful. I am also looking for ways to help students engage directly with their peers.
