Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
This session will introduce educators and students to strategies and opportunities for addressing global education issues in and outside of the classroom by linking into the global advocacy movement for gender equality.
Women Thrive will share lessons from its Change Champions program to show how everyday activists in the United States and elsewhere can mobilize to move forward programs and policies that impact the lives of women and girls.
Using examples including their advocacy around the sustainable development goals and #BringBackOurGirls, they will demonstrate the impact of mobilizing everyday activists on policymaking and share lessons and resources on:
- How to use social media to make change;
- How to become a Champion for women and girls and be an effective advocate;
- How to connect with local women’s and education organizations and share their stories; and
- How to localize global issues in the classrooms to turn students and teachers into Champions.
