Short Session Description: My journey on how I became involved in global collaboration – my joys, triumphs, stumbles, challenges and future.
Full Session Description : In 2007 while teaching in Beijing I was introduced to Web 2.0 through a short presentation by one of my colleagues after he attended the Learning 2.007 Conference in Shanghai. I was fascinated by the few things he talked about and immediately went home and spent the next few weeks totally immersed in this new and exciting world. I discovered the K12 Online Conference by accident and my journey started in earnest. I began to meet incredible people online from around the world. At first I was a lurker and then gradually became a participant. We discussed and shared ideas but most important I was able to ask questions. This incredible group of people always had time to listen, offer suggestions, encourage and provide another avenue for me to investigate. This was the beginning of my personal Global Collaboration that led me to becoming involved with several projects with my students and other classes around the world.
This session is to help take away the fear of the unknown. I will share what I have learned through much trial and error but always with the support of my Personal Learning Network of incredible teachers both face to face and online. Come and join the adventure.

Hi Heather, I really enjoyed looking through your slideshare and am looking forward to listening to the recording of your session. So many people ask where to start, how to get connected and leave it just there as it is all too hard, but you prove them wrong, give them direction and a great model to work on. Hope you will be back, same time next year! Thanks for becoming a global presenter.
Hi Heather, great to read this submission. Personal storytelling of journeys is always wonderful to listen and it can give confidence, ideas and a structure for others to follow. All the best with this.
