Full Session Description (as long as you would like): I will demonstrate how to take a current event that has captured world attention and use it as a teaching moment. Specifically, I will show how to use the recent Amanda Knox trial in a US criminal law class. We can examine how to different countries handle the arrest and prosecution of individuals. The idea is to provide awareness of how other countries perceive criminal acts but also share the history behind US procedures and laws.
And while this may seem very specific to a criminal class, the way I will pull the materials together can be used with a myriad of current events and other fields of study. I will provide a demonstration of this as well.
