Hello! Thanks to NPR (and my parents!), I have been interested in global education since I was a kid. It's great to get comments from my students that they learn "more than just math" in my classroom. I want to take things one step further with my students. With the stories of slavery in Brazil, the violence in Darfur, the environmental concerns, ... I think my students could help raise global awareness on our campus. When I hear those stories, I see numbers, percents, ratios, graphs, rates, slope, functions, etc. I want my STUDENTS to see that, too.
I'm in the process of creating a rubric -- going to take it slow this semester -- but I'd like for them to be more aware. I hope to make it more official for the fall semester.
Anyway, that's where I'm coming from. I'm so glad I found this website -- looking forward to meeting and working with you all!
