Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Our school participated in a project to bring back the Monarch Butterfly, whose population has declined by as much as 90% over the last few years. Our classes planted a wildflower garden to attract the butterflies to our area and reared monarchs in the classroom. Students across the curriculum participated in this effort, as they studied the Monarch's migration patterns, life-cycle, and anatomy. Students studied the Monarch in Spanish and English, creating vocabulary lists, games, interactive videos, and 3D models of the butterfly with a 3D printing pen. In addition, they communicated with scientists in Mexico at the Monarch Biosphere Reserve via Skype about their conservation program and planned a virtual trip to witness the arrival of the Monarch Butterflies using a green screen.
