Short Session Description: Is there a Tooth Fairy in Chile?

Full Session Description:

Global connections don’t have to be overwhelming or take up the entire year.  (Although, that would be amazing:) Start small. I’ll share simple ways in which my students (elementary and high school level) have connected with students around the world to create a sense of global awareness while also improving their Spanish Language skills.  We have used Wikispaces, Edmodo, Google, Skype, Voicethread and even old fashion letters to connect with people in Costa Rica, Tanzania, Chile, and Spain.  In all cases, students’ knowledge of the world has increased and their curiosity sparked. In the process, their Language Learning became a little more authentic and relevant.  Leave this session with a few ideas of how you and your students can get started.
