Your Name and Title:

Daniela Locreille, Director of Student Marketing, Higher Education

Chris Graue, Product Manager, Higher Education

School, Library, or Organization Name: Hobsons

Co-Presenter Name(s): Chris Graue, Product Manager

Country from Which You Will Present: United States

Language in Which You Will Present: English and Spanish

Target Audience (such as primary school teachers, high school administrators, students, etc.): high school counselors, college-bound students and teachers

Short Session Description (one line):

Discuss the benefits of connecting college-bound international students and their families with U.S. colleges and universities in a virtual environment which facilitates sharing of e-brochures, videos, and live chats.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

In this session learn how participating in an online event feels remarkably like a traditional on-the-ground university fair. How? These free international education events are accessible from anywhere in the world, like home, a library, or an internet cafe; wherever there is access to the internet. No cost, no travel, real time conversations.

We will demonstrate how international student users interact online with admissions representatives or other international students from U.S. colleges and universities.  As users, students are able to chat or videochat about degree programs, costs, admissions requirements, health insurance, financial aid opportunities, and more. Not fluent in English?  Not a problem, we translate chats on the fly.

Is this a proposal from a for profit organization? If so, please review the call for proposals for our policy on commercial entities and if you are interested in sponsorship, please contact Steve Hargadon at hargadon@gmail.com.

    Thanks!

I checked with iEARN and you are not a member of this organization. I assume that you are representative of a for profit business. Thus, this proposal cannot be accepted unless you are a sponsor of the conference as I mentioned above.

      • I emailed Steve, is there a direct link to sponsorships? I can't seem to find it on the section you mention. Also, when I went to iEarn to the Members section, I can add/invite people, so I am there? A bit confused  right now, if you don't see me there, send me a link I can look at or email me directly to daniela.locreille@hobsons.com Thanks Lucy.

Please review the conference information that's posted on our site and the newsletter I sent out yesterday to members of this community.  As you can see, iEARN is a separate organization that's holding its own conference in conjunction with us. Thus, there is a strand called the Global Education Conerence and another completely separate event held simultaneously called the iEARN Conference and Youth Summit.

iEARN is a global education organization for teachers and students, and you are not a registered member of this organization. I have checked with them. Thus, you cannot submit a proposal for their online conference.

However, if you are a business, you can present if you are a sponsor at the regular, non-iEARN Global Education Conference. In this case, you put your proposal in the correct place, but commercial entities must be sponsors. You are a member of our community and can add media here, it does not mean that you can present. We have to approve your proposal and move it into the accepted sessions category for you to present.

Our call for proposals makes it clear the guidelines for commercial presentations. The call for proposals link is in the conference links box to in the lefthand navigation. It is also listed under 2012 Conference in the main navigation (the dark green bar at the top of every web page here).

As also mentioned in the call for proposals, you need to contact Steve Hargadon at hargadon@gmail.com if you are interested in sponsorship. He will send you sponsorship information once you've contacted him.

          I hope this clarifies things!

          Thanks,

          Lucy

          • It does, thanks Lucy.  I emailed Steve on Monday so I am waiting to hear from him on sponsorships. I checked "no" on iEarn membership as well, finally starting to see the light here!
