Greetings, GEC Members -
Just a quick news flash to bring some recent Global Education Collaborative news to your attention.
First, our hearts and thoughts go out to the people of Haiti. The GEC might serve as a location for discussing ideas on how to help your students understand the disaster and for posting ideas for support relief efforts. Please share in our discussion forum how you are addressing the topic of the Haitian earthquake in your classroom. By the way, I've added a PBS widget highlighting reputable charities in case you are looking to make donations.
Secondly, we've had an influx of graduate students join our community this week from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. They have been busy posting great reviews of global education resources from this site: http://www.ncintheworld.org/finder.php.
Please take a look at their posts and offer some feedback. I'm sure that they'd love to hear from other educators around the world, and the GEC membership would be interested in further details about the class in which they are enrolled. It's pretty exciting that universities are offering course focused on global awareness and I'm pleased with how their instructor has incorporated the GEC into their work.
Finally, along with Classroom 2.0's Steve Hargadon, I'm beginning to tentatively think about planning some sort of global education online conference. If you or your organization would like to help with potentially planning an event, please send me a message in the GEC ning.
Thanks for your help,
Lucy Gray
